A fundamental driver of the project was improving circulation and spatial flow. The house was carefully reconfigured to ensure that each floor connected seamlessly, creating a natural rhythm from front to back and top to bottom.
The most transformative changes took place on the lower ground floor, which was completely redesigned. The kitchen was relocated to the centre of the plan, establishing it as the true heart of the home. The media room was repositioned to the front of the property, where more limited natural light made it ideally suited to a cosy, enveloping atmosphere.
By placing functions strategically according to light levels and use, we were able to create spaces that feel both purposeful and harmonious.
Kitchen, Dining & Garden Connection
The kitchen and dining areas were unified into one expansive, open-plan space designed for both everyday living and entertaining. To further enhance the sense of openness, we introduced a steel-framed wall of glass to the rear elevation. This architectural intervention not only floods the space with natural light but visually extends the room into the garden beyond, dissolving the boundary between inside and out.
A particularly striking feature is the large, in-wall fish tank installed between the kitchen and media room. Acting as a living piece of art, it introduces movement, light and transparency — allowing sightlines to run from the very front of the property through to the rear garden. The result is a subtle yet powerful sense of visual continuity across the entire lower ground floor.
Bespoke Craftsmanship & Detailing
Custom joinery plays a defining role throughout the house, providing tailored storage solutions and refined architectural detailing. The bespoke kitchen balances function with elegance, while beautifully appointed bathrooms were conceived as calm, tactile retreats finished in a restrained, timeless palette.
Every intervention was carefully considered, ensuring that new insertions sat comfortably within the existing fabric of the townhouse while elevating its overall aesthetic.
