Clare Norrish Interior Design

“A considered approach to creating calm, timeless homes”

At Clare Norrish Interior Design, we believe good design should make life easier.
A well-designed home feels calm, intuitive and balanced, supporting the way you live rather than complicating it.
Our work is rooted in human-centred design, thoughtful planning and attention to detail. By combining interior architecture with interior design, we create spaces that are both beautiful and highly functional.

Our philosophy

Designing around people, not just spaces

Every project begins with understanding how you live, move and feel in your home. We take the time to listen, ask the right questions and understand what matters most, so the design supports everyday life as well as long-term use. This approach ensures each space feels comfortable, considered and personal, rather than driven by trends or surface-level aesthetics.

Clear decisions, thoughtfully guided

Design decisions can quickly become overwhelming. Our role is to bring structure, clear direction and reassurance, helping clients navigate complex choices with confidence.
Through careful planning, curated options and transparent communication, we create a calm, supportive process from the very beginning.

our director

Meet Clare Norrish the founding director behind Clare Norrish interior design

Clare founded the studio after more than a decade working with leading interior design practices in London. With a degree in Interior Architecture, she brings a strong technical foundation alongside a refined design sensibility.
Her background allows her to think holistically about space, structure, light and flow, as well as materials, finishes and furnishings. This balance of technical understanding and creative insight ensures that design concepts translate seamlessly into reality.
Clare provides a personal, hands-on service and continuity from concept through to completion.

How we work

A structured,
supportive process

We guide each project through clearly defined stages, ensuring decisions are made in the right order and with the right level of detail. From spatial planning and design development to detailed specifications, every step is carefully considered. This structured approach helps reduce uncertainty, prevent costly mistakes and create a cohesive design that can be confidently delivered on site.

Collaboration built
on trust

Successful projects rely on strong relationships. We work collaboratively with our clients, as well as with contractors, consultants and specialists, maintaining open communication throughout. By managing the design through the construction phase, we help resolve challenges as they arise and protect the integrity of the agreed design.

What clients
value most

Clients often tell us they appreciate the sense of calm our process brings. Knowing there is clear direction, consistent support and someone overseeing the details allows them to enjoy the journey as much as the finished result. They value our attention to detail, our ability to simplify complex decisions, and the reassurance that the design they agreed on is what will be delivered.

The Stories Behind Our Spaces

Clare has worked with us on various projects now over the last 3 years, which includes a selection of new homes, 9 in total. I have seen the process from a commercial aspect as well as on a personal level as she was integral to the design team of our new family home. The process is effortless, from initial meeting to agree the brief, to follow up phone calls and site meetings, the package is always tailored to what we require, which we often need as no 2 houses we build are the same. Clare’s attention to detail is exceptional, being able to draw on CAD is also such a benefit, including drawing detailed fittings themselves whatever the product. I would certainly recommend Clare Norrish whatever the project size or scope, whether a large bespoke private residence, or a small Cul-de-sac of 3 bed houses, even just a re design of an existing house, whether that be a few rooms or the whole property

Clare was meticulous in the detail of her drawings and plans. She introduced so many great features that we would not have had without her input. Our internal space is so much better due to her input. Many thanks.

I’ve worked with the team at Clare Norrish Interior Design for almost a decade now, their attention to detail is second to none, exceeding clients’ expectations every time! There is a thought process at every stage from initial concept to fabrication, they have always delivered on time and to budget. Creativity, professionalism and client satisfaction are the core values and a promise that is always fulfilled.

Working with Clare on our new build made what could have been a stressful experience much more relaxed. She came up with options that have given all the rooms a unique feel but that link and flow into each other; matching our often-tricky brief of traditional elements within a new build environment. She really listened in terms of feedback on ideas and budget, coming up with creative ways to solve issues that arose. She was also very professional in our day-to-day dealings with her, efficient in getting back to us, chasing down external suppliers and her attention to detail was spot on.

We are so pleased with our new lounge and dining room. Both rooms look amazing with bespoke furniture, handmade curtains and cushions using fabrics, colours and wallpapers we would never have found otherwise. Our family and friends are all very impressed. I’m particularly pleased that several months later, it is all still looking beautiful and brand new despite it being a real home with pets and children. Thank you, Clare, for helping us create elegant yet practical rooms.

Throughout our 40-year history as building contractors, we have collaborated with numerous interior designers. Clare Norrish Interior Design stands out among them, having partnered with us on six projects. Their professionalism and technical expertise are unparalleled. Their designs are consistently fresh, current, and meticulously planned to ensure technical feasibility. We wholeheartedly recommend CNID to any future clients and frequently suggest them when our clients seek recommendations.

This was our first major refurbishment, and despite all our preparation, all the usual clichés about builders, architects, and rising costs sadly proved true — except in Clare’s case. She genuinely partnered with us throughout the process and was exceptional. Clare is truly worth her weight in gold.
