Overlooking the Thames in Caversham, this elegant riverfront property provided the perfect backdrop for a series of richly layered interior spaces designed for both family life and entertaining. We were commissioned to design the principal entertaining space, open-plan family room and formal dining area — creating a cohesive suite of rooms that feel distinctive yet beautifully connected.
From the outset, the brief centred on cohesion and continuity. The new interiors were carefully designed to work seamlessly with the other completed rooms in the house, while also complementing the client’s art collection and reflecting their deep love of the water. The result is a scheme that feels unified, personal and intrinsically connected to its riverside setting.
A Jewel-Like Palette
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape and the tones within the client’s artwork, we developed a scheme defined by depth, vibrancy and texture. Luxurious wallpapers introduce pattern and personality, while rich fabrics — from sumptuous velvets to finely woven linens – adding softness & textural definition.
Layered tones and carefully balanced contrasts give each room its own identity, yet the palette flows harmoniously throughout the open-plan spaces. Subtle references to water — through fluid patterns, reflective finishes and nuanced blues and greens — lend a quiet sense of movement and calm. The result is jewel-like without feeling overpowering — expressive, confident and entirely reflective of the client’s lifestyle.
Open-Plan Family Living
Within the open-plan family room, comfort and durability were paramount. While visually connected to the more formal spaces, this area was designed to feel relaxed and adaptable — somewhere the family could gather, unwind and spend time together.
Custom cabinetry integrates discreet storage and media solutions, ensuring the space remains calm and uncluttered. The layout encourages conversation and connection, while maintaining clear circulation and functionality for modern living.

By combining luxurious materials, bespoke detailing and a deep understanding of our client’s lifestyle, we created interiors that feel cohesive within the wider home, connected to their riverside environment, and beautifully suited to modern family life.
The result is a sophisticated riverfront interior that balances vibrancy with elegance — expressive yet harmonious, and always ready to host with effortless grace.
We are so pleased with our new lounge and dining room. Both rooms look amazing with bespoke furniture, handmade curtains and cushions using fabrics, colours and wallpapers we would never have found otherwise. Our family and friends are all very impressed. I’m particularly pleased that several months later, it is all still looking beautiful and brand new despite it being a real home with pets and children.
