Positioned on a cobbled cul-de-sac in the illustrious South Kensington, this development project involved the transformation of a historic mews house and its existing lateral flat above the original stable block. Delivered in collaboration with Simon Scott Homes, the scheme converted the building into two three-bedroom luxury modern loft-style homes, creating contemporary residences that maximise both space and light.
Expanding & Reconfiguring the Space
Working alongside the contractor and architectural team, CNID oversaw a substantial redevelopment that enhanced the original building footprint by approximately 1,300 sq.ft. This enabled the lateral flat and stable structure to be reconfigured into two separate, generously proportioned dwellings.
The layouts were carefully planned to improve circulation, optimise natural light, and create open-plan living spaces that feel both expansive and highly functional.
Contemporary Loft-Style Interiors
The interiors are defined by a modern loft aesthetic. Cotton white oak flooring, expansive glazing, and a palette of off-white and soft grey tones amplify the sense of space and continuity throughout each home. Large, light-filled rooms are balanced with tactile finishes to create warmth and a welcoming atmosphere.
Luxury fabrics and vibrant accent colours were introduced to furnish and dress the homes, demonstrating how modern design can combine elegance with comfort.
Integrated Technology & Bespoke Detailing
Both homes feature fully integrated Lutron lighting and audio systems, providing flexible, high-specification control throughout. Bespoke elements — including stone-clad walls, leather flooring, and a steam shower in the master suite — elevate the spaces with subtle luxury and craftsmanship.
Every finish and feature was carefully specified to balance practicality, aesthetics, and longevity, ensuring the homes feel polished and cohesive.
